Title 42 Process
Overview of Title 42 Process
-
Definition: Title 42 is a procedure used to obtain a title for various types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, vans, recreational vehicles, travel trailers, ATVs, boats, motors, trailers, semis, and mobile homes.
-
Processing Time: The average processing time for a Title 42 is between 10 to 12 weeks. We will handle all documentation promptly and submit the application to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, after which we await the return of the paperwork.
-
Remote Processing: This procedure can be completed without any in-person meetings. We will gather all necessary vehicle details via phone or email. This approach allows us to efficiently serve all of Oklahoma.
-
Discounts: We offer discounts on a case-by-case basis for multiple vehicles.
-
Post-Approval Steps: Once a Title 42 is approved, you can take the provided paperwork to your local tag agency to receive your title and tag. Please note that fees will apply at the tag agency.
-
Lien Notification: If there is a lien on the vehicle from a bank, loan company, or other third party, we will notify the lien holder. They will have 10 days to respond and make arrangements regarding the vehicle. If they do not respond, the process continues until a title is secured.
-
Assistance Commitment: We are dedicated to helping you obtain a title. While we have never encountered a denial, we cannot guarantee title authorization from the Oklahoma Tax Commission or Service Oklahoma. In rare instances where the process is more complicated, additional work and submissions may be needed. Therefore, we do not offer refunds for fees if a title is not received.

Court Order Process
To obtain a court order for your vehicle, whether purchased or received as a gift, you will need to pay the fee up fron. Once the court order is processed, we can issue a tag and title within approximately one week. It is essential for you to verify that the vehicle has never been declared a total loss, reported stolen, or has any liens against it. If there is a lien from a previous owner, you must provide a lien release to move forward. Liens may originate from Oklahoma or other states. Please note that we are not liable if a lien is discovered and a lien release cannot be obtained.
To proceed, please send us the year, make, model, and serial number of the vehicle, along with your name, mailing address, phone number, driver's license number, date of birth, and payment information. After the court order is completed, there will be a tag fee and an excise tax due.
Mechanic, Storage, or Auto Lein
An auto storage lien or mechanic's lien is a legal claim against a vehicle or property for the payment of services rendered or materials supplied. Here’s a simplified overview of the processes involved in both:
-
Service Rendered: A vehicle is towed or stored at a facility, and the owner is notified of the charges incurred.
-
Notice: The storage facility must provide a written notice to the vehicle owner, informing them of the storage fees and the intent to file a lien if the fees are not paid.
-
Waiting Period: The facility often must wait a specified period (varies by jurisdiction) during which the vehicle owner can pay the fees.
-
Filing a Lien: If the fees remain unpaid after the waiting period, the storage facility can file a lien with the appropriate government agency (usually the Department of Motor Vehicles).
-
Auction or Sale: After filing the lien, the storage facility may sell the vehicle at auction to recover the unpaid charges, following state regulations.
